Description
Nepeta ‘Junior Walker’, also known as Garden Catmint, is a compact and attractive plant loved for its fragrant leaves and clusters of lavender-blue flowers. This low-maintenance hybrid stays tidy and doesn’t spread by seeding, making it perfect for small gardens or lining pathways with soft, trailing edges.
Growing to about 30-40 cm tall and spreading up to 60 cm, ‘Junior Walker’ forms dense mounds of grey-green, fuzzy foliage that gives off a refreshing scent when touched or warmed by the sun. Its flowers bloom from late spring to early autumn, providing months of colour and attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, making it a great choice for wildlife-friendly gardens.
‘Junior Walker’ is known for being tough and reliable. It can handle drought once established, grows well in poor or average soils, and isn’t bothered by deer or rabbits. Unlike some other catmints, it won’t self-seed, so it stays where you
plant it without spreading too much.
This versatile plant works well for softening the edges of borders, growing in rock gardens, or pairing with roses and other cottage garden plants. It also grows well in containers, making it suitable for both classic and modern garden designs.
