Description

Persicaria affinis ‘Kabouter’ is a charming, low-growing plant that makes an excellent ground cover, adding colour and texture to the garden throughout the year. The name ‘Kabouter’ means “gnome,” which fits its small, cute appearance. Its neat growth and vibrant flower spikes make it a great addition to garden borders, rockeries, and pathways.

From late summer to fall, ‘Kabouter’ produces bright pink flowers that turn a rich red, creating a beautiful colour gradient. The glossy green leaves form a dense mat, turning bronze-red in the fall, adding interest to the garden. Growing only 15–20 cm tall, it spreads easily, suppressing weeds and providing long-lasting colour.

Perfect for informal or low-maintenance gardens, ‘Kabouter’ thrives in full sun or partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. Its nectar-rich flowers attract bees and other pollinators, supporting biodiversity in the garden. With its unique name and lovely appearance, Persicaria affinis ‘Kabouter’ is an attractive and practical choice for any garden.
